Compass 360 User Guide

Curio Compass 360 is a customisable capability and skills assessment platform designed to help individuals and organisations understand, measure, and develop workforce capability.

1. Overview of Compass 360

Compass 360 enables:

  • Self and 360-degree assessments against custom or standardised capability frameworks

  • Real-time data reporting for individuals, teams, and organisations

  • Gap analysis to identify development priorities

  • Learning resource alignment and development planning

  • Seamless integration with LMS (e.g., Moodle, Canvas) and HR systems (e.g., Workday, SAP)

  • Workforce planning and talent development

  • Role-specific capability frameworks and career pathways

  • Leadership pipeline readiness

  • Tracking organisational readiness for transformation or innovation agendas


2. User Roles & Permissions

Role Key Functions
Individual Complete assessments, view personalised reports, access learning resources, track development plans
Manager Review and assess team members, monitor progress, interpret results, contribute to development planning
Coach / Mentor Provide structured feedback, support individual development conversations
Administrator Configure frameworks, manage cohorts, launch and monitor assessments, generate organisation-wide reports

3. Getting Started

Logging In

  • Navigate to your institution's Compass 360 login page

  • Use single sign-on (SSO) or credentials provided by your administrator

  • If you experience access issues, contact your system administrator or support team

Accessing Your Dashboard

  • Once logged in, you’ll land on your personalised dashboard showing:

    • Assigned assessments and due dates

    • Progress on submitted assessments

    • Notifications or feedback (e.g., reminders or manager comments)


4. Completing an Assessment

  1. Navigate to My Assessments

  2. Select the assessment relevant to your role or cohort (e.g. Leadership Framework, Digital Skills)

  3. Read the capability descriptions and rate yourself on:

    • Ability – How confident or skilled you feel in this area

    • Importance – How important the capability is in your current role

  4. Add optional comments or examples to support your ratings

  5. Save your progress at any time. Submit when complete.

360 Feedback (if enabled)

  • Your manager, peers, or coaches may be invited to complete assessments about your capabilities

  • You will be notified once their input is complete

Behavioural Anchors

  • Each rating is linked to clear behavioural examples to assist consistency and self-reflection


5. Viewing Your Results

  • Go to My Reports

  • Your dashboard will display:

    • Top Strengths – areas of consistently high performance

    • Development Priorities – areas with lower confidence or high importance

    • Score comparisons across previous assessment cycles

    • Heatmaps showing distribution across capabilities

Interpreting 360 Feedback

  • Identify differences between self-perception and external feedback

  • Use alignment data to guide coaching conversations

  • Download your report for review with a manager or HR


6. Learning & Development Actions

  • Each capability result links to curated learning options:

    • Online modules (via LMS)

    • Internal training programs

    • Coaching or mentoring sessions

    • External qualifications or microcredentials

  • View your learning recommendations in the My Development Plan

  • Update your progress and mark completions

  • Use the plan in performance reviews or development discussions


7. For Managers

As a manager, you can:

  • View team assessments via the Team Dashboard

  • Monitor completion rates and provide reminders

  • Compare self-assessments to manager ratings

  • Identify common capability gaps across your team

  • Access guidance to support team development planning

Supporting Team Development:

  • Use Compass 360 reports in 1:1 conversations

  • Align learning plans to team goals

  • Recognise high performers or coach those needing support


8. For Administrators

As a Compass 360 admin, you can:

  • Create and manage cohorts (by department, intake, or role)

  • Configure capability frameworks and rating scales

  • Schedule assessments and manage user access

  • Customise survey types:

    • Self-assessment only

    • 360-degree with peer/manager inputs

    • Pulse surveys for quick capability health checks

  • Generate individual, team, or organisation-level reports

  • Export data for HRIS, Power BI, or analytics platforms

Framework Management

  • Upload or design new frameworks (incl. levels, behaviours, tags)

  • Map learning resources to capabilities

  • Assign frameworks to specific user groups or roles

Engagement & Reporting

  • Track assessment completion in real time

  • Identify inactive users or overdue submissions

  • View cohort trends across time periods or capability clusters


9. FAQs & Troubleshooting

  • Can I update an assessment after submitting? No. Assessments are locked after submission. Please contact your admin to reopen it.

  • Why can’t I see learning resources in my plan? Resources may not be assigned or mapped. Contact your manager or learning team.

  • What does it mean if a capability is marked 'critical'? This denotes key capabilities flagged by your organisation as high priority for success in your role.

  • How do I move a user to another cohort? Admins can use the 'Move to Cohort' tool from the user profile view.
