The workplan lifecycle

Every workplan moves through three states, so everyone knows where things stand.

  1. Draft. The plan is being built. Allocations arrive automatically from your institution's systems or are added by hand. The staff member and their manager can both see the plan taking shape.
  2. In review. The plan is ready for sign-off. Depending on your workflow, the staff member confirms it, the manager approves it, or both sign off in turn.
  3. Final. The plan is approved and locked. It becomes the agreed record of the staff member's workload for the planning period.

Opus keeps every version of a workplan, so you can see what changed, when and by whom. If a final plan needs to change, your administrator can reopen it and the version history keeps the full audit trail.

Workplans can cover a semester, a trimester or a full year, depending on how your institution plans.
